Library Day

I am in love with Library Day.  In this house it isn't a set day, it's always a random day when Mama has a little extra time before the littlest goes down for a nap.  A new, fantastic part - since our move, the library is now free!! We used to pay $90 every year, and had to drive for 20 minutes every time we went.  (This is the reason I love my Kobo reader.  It connects to our province's library system and I can "borrow" books online.  Best part? No late fees! But this is getting off topic.....)

Lilybean is clearly her parents' child.  She sits down on the couches at the library and "reads" as many books as she can, carefully choosing which books to bring home.  When we come home, we eat lunch and read all the books from start to finish in one big hug on the floor or grass, with as many pillows as we can find.  After lunch, the little guy goes down for his nap and she hunkers down in whatever corner in or around the house she finds and "reads".  Until suppertime.

I wish every day was library day.  Life would run a lot smoother....... :)

(And yes, she picked out a "For Better or For Worse" comic book this week...)

All The Beans

Any time I start reading a blog, I always go back to that person’s very first post. Their first chapter so to say. I constantly found myself wondering why they started blogging. What made them start to document an aspect of their lives? Oddly enough, most did not say why, they just started with a “Hello”.

One blogger’s reason stayed with me for a long time. She started blogging her day to day life (or more accurately her week to week life) as a sort of baby book to her kids. Rather than fill out baby books for all of her Littles, there was now documentary of her children’s lives in one place that they all will be able to access when they are older. No house fires, floods, ect, could take away this memory book.

I am worse than my own mother when it comes to my own Littles baby books. My baby book is still sitting there in it’s plastic wrapper, smelling like it was just bought yesterday. My mom instead would write little bits of information and cute stories on scrap pieces of paper and put them inside the box. There are a few newspaper clippings inside too, all barely held together with a rubber band, My daughter has a few pages filled out from that day before her first birthday party when I realized it had never been cracked open. My son’s has nothing, nada, not even his name.

So here is it. My reason for starting a blog – memories. And it might be a good place for anything else my scatterbrained mind might want to remember….. ;)
